PAMYUA's performing once again at the Adventure Travel World Summit, but this time its on our turf. We're excited to welcome ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association) members from around the world with a private concert. A big thank you to Visit Anchorage for including PAMYUA in this fun event. Also a big thank you to Iceland Air for sponsoring Karina, Kristoffer, Anders and Nikolaj's travel from Denmark to Anchorage.
Below are pictures from last years ATTA Summit, in Puerto Varas, Chile. There, Visit Anchorage hosted a PAMYUA concert to excite members about coming to Anchorage. We're excited to see if it worked.

PAMYUA's returning to Nome. Joining the group are special guests musicians, Kristoffer Jul Reenberg (piano), Nikolaja Pals Frandsen (bass), Anders Pedersen (drums) from Copenhagen, Denmark. FYI, Karina will also be performing with the dudes. Last year PAMYUA's concert in Nome was canceled because of a blizzard. We're so happy that we're able to return and play in Nome once again. We love Nome. Special thanks to Sherry Trigg, Luisa Machuca and Josie Styles for making our tour possible. Quyana and see you at the shows!
We're super excited to welcome Karina back to Alaska. Besides visiting friends and family, she'll be performing with the dudes. The first shows are in Nome Sept. 16 & 17. PAMYUA will return to Anchorage for two private shows Sept. 19 & 20. Closing out their mini-tour, PAMYUA will be headlining BODEGA-FEST at the TapRoot Sept. 24. That's the one not to miss ANCHORAGE (hint, hint!).
Learn more about Karina and how she became a part of PAMYUA over 20-years-ago.
PAMYUA performs Saturday, September 3rd at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer. The Gathering Place is a fairly new exhibit that features Indigenous visual and performing arts. The Dena' stage hosts a full roster of traditional and contemporary acts. PAMYUA will close out the stage starting at 7pm, following the "high-flying excitement" of the Inupiaq blanket toss. The performance is free with general fair admission.
Booking Agent Barbara Collin is scheduling PAMYUA meetings (Aug 29 - Sept 1) at the 2016 Western Arts Alliance Annual Conference in Los Angels, CA. If you or someone you know (in and around LA) is interested in booking PAMYUA performances, set up a meeting by phone: (323) 556-1046. She'll have PAMYUA promotional material including CD singles, One-Sheets and a handful of albums. PAMYUA and Barbara began working together after meeting at last years WAA conference in Vancouver; what a difference a year makes. After 20 years we're finally on an offical booking roster. PAMYUA's Stephen Qacung Blanchett describes the group.
Karina, Kristoffer, Anders and Nikolaj will be in Anchorage late September to play music with the rest of PAMYUA. These guys have been playing together on-and-off for over 18-years. This will be Anders (Drummer) first time in Alaska. The first time he played with PAMYUA was in 1998 in Nuuk, Greenland. We're excited to welcome him to our home. Anders, Nikolaj and Kristoffer together! Wow!!! and with Karina. Holy smokes it's gonna be real fun.
PAMYUA is planning an amazing show (at the TapRoot) to close out one of Anchorage's premier tasting events BODEGA-FEST! It's all happening September 24th!
First, BODEGA-FEST "the festival" runs from 1-6pm at the Lucy Cuddy Park (by the Loussac Library). The festival, hosted by LA BODEGA, features beer, mead, cider and sake. But wait, there's more! Enjoy lawn games, BODEGA-FEST birthday cake and music by: DJ Alex the Lion, Orion Donicht and Big Fat Buddah.
Second, BODEGA-FEST "the concert" moves to the TapRoot (doors open at 6:30) for a special PAMYUA concert! Get our tickets early because this show will sell out. Tickets for the concert & festival are $59 (festival only tickets are $39). *note, you can go to the festival without the concert, but you can't go the concert without the festival, if you know what I mean. Questions contact La Bodega.
Pamyua members: Phillip and Stephen Blanchett, Ivan Night (guitar) and James Dommek, Jr. (Drums) just returned from Dillingham, Alaska. The band performed to a packed house at the high school. The event was sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in Dillingham and organized for the 2016 Youth Leadership Symposium. The symposium welcomed about 40 high school students from surrounding villages.
Prior to the concert Stephen and Phillip led workshops on leadership and cultural awareness. The workshop discussions were interactive lectures on indigenous heritage and art.
